Sounds of ’16

First of all, we are going to claim the amazing Bonzai as one of our own since she was born in Dublin.  We are obsessed with the bangin’ mix of pop, R&B and hip hop on her debut EP Royah and her latest track  ‘Doses’ has been on our playlist not stop. We are praying she releases a full length album in 2016.

Have you seen Craig David‘s cover of Justin Beiber’s Love Yourself yet??  If you haven’t, you should watch it now and you will understand that he is BACK!!!

His new single ‘When The Bassline Drops’ is also brilliant and he’s playing the Wright Venue in Dublin on the 26th of February.  Is this going to be the biggest comeback since.. erm… Beiber’s in 2015??

London based Femme‘s catchy new track Gold is instantly brilliant too and is bound to brighten up even the bluest January day.  Listen here.

If you’re looking for something a bit more soulful, look no further than Loyle Carner‘s laid back rap blended with jazz, electronica and hip hop to get you over that mid month slump.

Mura Masa is another musical obsession of ours who we are sure is going to be MASSIVE this year.  His danceable, soulful sound led him to come 5th place in the BBC’s sound of 2016 poll and some of the biggest vocalists of the minute, Nao and Shura have featured on his tracks.

We have been fans of Jack Garratt since we saw him own the Little Big Tent at Electric Picnic last year so we know what we’ll be listening to on the day he releases his debut album ‘Phase’ on February 19th.

All Tvvins are another Irish pick, I mean, who doesn’t love a bit of 80’s sounding alt-rock?? Too Young to Live is their latest single to hit our playlist.

Autralian teenager Grace had one of the biggest hits of 2015 with You Don’t Own Me Feat G-Eazy.  We know she’s currently in Nashville putting the final touches on her album so it could drop any day now…

Who would have thought that working in a hardware store could provide the inspiration for music as good as Illinois based Kiiara.  Catchy and complex at the same time, there’s more to come from her this year.

Fancy a bit of cool girl band attitude?  Try Spanish Indie Rock band Hinds to blow off a few January cobwebs.

‘Wonky Funk’ is how London based singer songwriter Nao describes her own sound.  Her album is due out in 2016, have a listen to our favourite track Inhale Exhale to see what you think.

We fell in love with electro pop trio Haelos’ trippy Earth not Above EP earlier this year and they have promised us their debut album in 2016.  Hurry up Haelos.

We’ve mentioned cool and candid R&B girl Alessia Cara on Bloggin’ Around a couple of times already because, well, we just LOVE her.   You might have already heard her debut single ‘Here’ on the radio but check out her Youtube channel for some seriously good covers and originals.

They’ve only gone and been co signed by Drake and are guesting on Rita Ora’s new album in 2016 so Section Boyz are about to be biiiig  Have a listen

New York trio Wet are releasing their debut album on 29th January.  If this track Deadwater is anything to go by it is going to be amaze… sweet, sad, poppy R&B, January perfection.
